Scholarship Window – January 1st – End of Spring Break


Scholarship funds are designated to help students cover expenses associated with all levels of education. Custom scholarships can be created to benefit specific students, schools, vocations or regions of Mount Dora.

Scholarships for All Local Area Schools

CAHILL VOCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP

The scholarship is awarded – based on financial need – to students seeking technical education or adults changing fields living in the Mount Dora area.


CHAPTER JD P.E.O. KATHY FELDMAN SCHOLARSHIP FUND

This fund was created to provide scholarships to women who meet pre-set criteria and reside in the Lake County Area.


FBCU CRAWFORD SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was established through a generous donation to the Frist Baptist Church of Umatilla from Mr. Crawford. Applications are received annually to potentially fund scholarships to Primary, Secondary, Undergraduate, Graduate, or Trade school. Preference is aimed toward students who are; in the Umatilla area, are affiliated with First Baptist Church, or who are active attendees of a church in Lake County, FL.


GLENN A. CHRISTIANS ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP

The scholarship was founded by Glenn Christians for electrical and structural engineering students.


ORVAL HAGERTY SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Provides college scholarships to local students who require financial assistance to pursue a higher education. Scholarships may be renewed annually up to four years, provided the student maintains a job and satisfactory grade point average.


MARY E. BEACOM MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Mary Beacom, a nurse, provided funds to be used for charitable purposes following her death. To accomplish this, her Trustee established the memorial fund in her honor to provide scholarships for local high school graduates interested in healthcare careers, with preference given to those attending trade or technical schools.


POWERONE TECHNOLOGY FUND

Fund set up by PowerOne LLC, as a repository for gifts and bequests to encourage the study of and training in the field of technology or other creative studies. Scholarships and/or grants will be provided to students from Lake and Sumter County.


ROUNDLAKE CHARTER SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP

This local area scholarship is presented to students who have previously attended Round Lake Charter School.


SYLVANNA J. KING SCHOLARSHIP

Established by Dr. Genester S. Wilson-King as a memorial scholarship in memory of her daughter. The scholarship is for a student in either Eustis or Mount Dora High School to attend a public or private university. This scholarship focuses on community service and needs. Preference is given to students wishing to attend either Spielman or Morehouse Colleges.


Scholarships for MDHS or MDCA Students

W. T. BLAND, JR. SCHOLARSHIP

For Undergraduate College Students

The W.T. Bland Junior Charitable Fund is a scholarship for students their second, third, or fourth years of undergraduate study. Emphasis is also given to vocational training and community college education. A recipient may reapply, through undergraduate studies, as long as their attendance and Grade Point Average (GPA) are appropriate to their degree goals.


AILEEN JOINER SCHOLARSHIP

Ms. Joiner established a scholarship fund for post-high school education at a University within the State of Florida. The scholarship is to be awarded to a senior of Mount Dora High School or Mount Dora Christian Academy and is renewable.


EDDY TIMMONS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Established by his family as a memorial to Eddy Timmons – a lifelong resident and business owner of Mt Dora.  This memorial scholarship was created to support students from MDHS or MDCA who seek a technical trade career.


JOEL AND ANNA SEE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Established by Dr. and Mrs. See to provide financial assistance to Mount Dora High School graduates who wish to pursue a medical career. Scholarships are renewable through four years of college for full-time students who continue to meet the scholarship qualifications.


Scholarships for Only MDHS Students

COMMUNITY SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP

Provides a scholarship opportunity for Mount Dora High School senior who has volunteered at least 75 hours of community service. Special consideration will be given to those students who volunteer for the Mount Dora Art Festival and/or Mount Dora Craft Fair.


DENNIS JUNIOR GOLF SCHOLARSHIP

Established by the Dennis family in memory of James O. Dennis and his brother, Thomas Dennis, for the promotion of junior golf in Mount Dora. The scholarship is awarded to a Mount Dora High School graduate with a “B” average or higher who has participated in the Junior Golf team.


JOHN LIPTAK, JR. BASKETBALL SCHOLARSHIP

This fund was established by family and friends of John Liptak, Jr. He was well-known for his support of the basketball team at Mount Dora High School, where his son, John III coaches. The fund provides scholarships to Mount Dora High School students and is awarded for their second year of college.


KELLY BODNARUK MEMORIAL FUND

Established in honor of Kelly Anne Elizabeth Bodnaruk, a Mount Dora High School senior when she passed away in a car accident in 2004. Kelly’s memorial provides a college scholarship to a Mount Dora High School senior and a creativity grant to a Mount Dora High School junior to attend a summer program or camp.


LIZ PERRETT SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Established by Mount Dora High School students in memory of Liz Perrett and supported by high school activities to provide one scholarship annually to a graduating senior.


SUSAN WEINSTOCK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

This scholarship was made possible by the family, friends, and colleagues of Susan Weinstock, former art teacher at Mount Dora High School, who passed away in July 2002. The scholarship will be awarded to a senior from Mount Dora High School who will be pursuing an art education degree following graduation from high school.


NATASHA ARANO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

THIS FUND IS TEMPORARILY NOT ACCEPTING ANY NEW SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS.

This Scholarship recognizes a student with financial need, and who has a strong commitment to serve their school, community, and their church missionary activities. They will attend Lake Sumter State College. Preference will be given to the academic study of education, social work, or marriage counseling


Rotary Scholarships

In addition to their endowed scholarships with the Mount Dora Community Trust, the Rotary Club of Lake County Golden Triangle provides scholarships to students from Eustis, Mount Dora, Tavares, and Umatilla.  Scholarships may be used for vocational training programs, two year and four year college degrees. 


The Mount Dora Community Trust application site is used for all Rotary scholarships.


DUNBAR ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP FUND

A gift from Morris W. Dunbar in honor of his wife, establishing a scholarship fund for students interested in a career in nursing.


SCHLOOT ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP FUND

A gift from Norma Jean Schloot, establishing a scholarship fund for students interested in education or agriculture.


EARHART ROTARY SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Established as a memorial to Richard Earhart to provide scholarships to individuals selected by the Rotary Club of Lake County Golden Triangle.


THE ROTARY BILL BLAND SCHOLARSHIP FUND

Established by The Rotary Club of Lake County Golden Triangle to provide scholarship funding for potential finance, law enforcement, agriculture and technical students (secondary, undergraduate, graduate, or trade school). Eligible students should be residents of Lake County or attend Lake County schools.
